My Courageous Mother

There have been new developments within my family that compel me to write about my mother’s battle with Lymphoma cancer.

My mother is battling the last stages of lymphoma cancer. This is her third go around with the disease. Some of the cancer cells that have survived previous treatments have come back with a vengeance stronger and with a faster destructive force than ever.

She has numerous tumors in her abdomen, and some have now entered her spine. She is a born again Christian, and deep down inside she knows she is fighting a losing battle. But her faith and love for God is growing stronger daily. She lays in her hospital bed and prays constantly for her twelve children.

In all my days I have never witnessed the courage, love and concern of a dying woman’s last wishes for her family.

Her fervent prayer is that all her children come to know the Lord the way she has, that they come to love Him the way she does.

Listening to my mother’s prayer the other day, it reminded me when Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane and he was praying to His father, how that God had given Him twelve disciples, and He hadn’t lost even one. My mother has twelve children and also has not lost any.
